South Korean rapper Psy performed on Wednesday in the capital Seoul in a public concert before the national team's World Cup opener. Korea were held to a 1-1 draw against Russia in a Group H match. "The Korean soccer team did really well. It was a wonderful match,” Psy said after the game. Before the game, the rapper performed his new song Champion, which he said was inspired by the Red Devils and the "cheering crowds" during the 2002 World Cup, which was held jointly in South Korea and Japan. ## "At that time, my career as a singer was going downhill, but this song saved me. However popular Gangnam Style is, Champion is the best song for me,” he told the crowd. ## Psy skyrocketed to international fame in summer 2012 with his record-breaking hit Gangnam Style, which over 2 billion views on YouTube, making it the site's most-watched video.
