Egypt's annual urban inflation was 8.3 percent in May, state statistical body CAPMAS announced on Tuesday. However, monthly urban inflation declined in May to record -0.7 percent compared to 0.2 percent in April. According to CAPMAS, the yearly headline inflation rate was 8.3 percent in May compared to 8.2 percent in the same month in 2013. But on a monthly basis the consumer prices index eased to -0.9 percent from 0.6 percent.
