CAIRO: The Egyptian Advisory Council's role will conclude when a new Egyptian President is elected, reported the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF). “The role of the advisory council is domestic in nature and will serve as a liaison between the military council and national political powers during the transitional period,” a SCAF statement read. The advisory council will never be a substitute for the People's Assembly, the Shura Council or any other elected council, the statement continued. The military council also called on all Egyptian political powers to engage in dialogue and positive participation. The statement also highlighted the significance of integration between the people, the judiciary, the police and the armed forces in carrying out the parliamentary elections. SCAF also renewed its commitment to adhering to full transparency and impartiality during the elections. The military council also expressed its appreciation for the sacrifices of the January 25 Revolution martyrs, those killed or injured in the Maspero clashes as well as those who lost their lives or were injured in the recent Tahrir Square uprising.
