CAIRO: The Egyptian Popular Consensus Group today last night issued a statement criticizing the Supreme Council of the Egyptian Armed Forces (SCAF) for failing to meet the demands of both the Group and the revolutionary powers. The Group particularly criticized the recent SCAF statement, which alluded to the amendment of articles 57 and 57 of the Constitutional Declaration. The SCAF's statement laid out the priorities of the new government, which include: restoring security and improving the standard of living, the restructure of the Egyptian Ministry of the Interior, isolation of regime remnants, control over prices, development of minimum and maximum wages, cancellation of the emergency law, pardons for all revolutionaries sentenced in military tribunals and the cleansing of corruption. In addition, the statement called for the swift investigation and prosecution of all those accused of crimes against protestors. Martyrs and those injured will be compensated at the expense of the ruling council, SCAF said. The military council called on the youth to help make decisions with the advisory council and the government, including the possible selection of ministers. The revolutionary powers criticized the statement for not putting together a timetable for presidential elections. They insist on the hand over of power to a full executive and legislative body in the parliament and the election of a president in April 2012. They asked for nominations for president to begin on March 12, 2012. They also urged that elections for president be held April 28 with a runoff on May 5. In addition, revolutionary powers called for the postponement of Shura Council elections pending the presidential elections. The Group also announced the formation of a committee to follow-up on Revolution objectives. All political movements in the Group signed the statement. The group announced forming a committee to follow up the achievements of the Revolution objectives by prominent figures of the revolution. The revolutionaries' statement is signed by all powers.
