CAIRO: Violent clashes broke out between dozens of street vendors in Tahrir Square with bottles, sticks and tea glasses being used, as an altercation started over where vendors were situated. The popular committees interfered to stop the clashes; there were no casualties among the vendors. The popular committees used agreed upon signals such as banging on metal barricades to contain the situation and bring the clashes to an end. The protesters tried to pacify the situation and convince popular committees to kick the street vendors out of the square to avoid further bloody clashes.
