Moahmed Yaqoouby, editor-in-chief of Algerian newspaper al-Shorouk, sent his regards to Youm7 journalists and Editor-in-Chief Khaled Salah received the Forbes award for best website in the Middle East. Yaqoouby told Youm7 that it deserves this award for two main reasons. First, for the sheer amount of traffic Youm7 receives and its mastering of automatic updates of breaking news. Second, Yaqoouby said Youm7 has recorded “remarkable superiority” of news coverage during the Arab spring, not only in covering the Egyptian revolution but also all the other uprisings. This is an opportunity that most newspapers failed to realize, said Yaqoouby. Yaqoouby said Youm7 is a great competitor for any Arab newspaper, especially in the absence of ambitious newspapers having the will to challenge and make the event. He said that although al-Shorouk is in a country that is relatively far away from the serious incidents, the newspaper was able to form a source of news in all the revolutions through its correspondents and delegates and the policy of transferring news from the incident place. He said allowed al-Shorouk to surpass bigger newspapers, taking into consideration the lack of freedom in the countries in which they operate. Yaqoouby finished by saying that his ambition is that al-Shorouk can lead next year.
