DUBAI: According to “Forbes Middle East,” for the 2nd year running Youm7 was ranked the most effective Arab journalism on the web. Dr. Walid Mostafa, chairman of Youm7's board, was honored in a ceremony in the presence of many ambassadors, diplomats, elite media figures, editors, and prominent business personalities. Youm7 attracted 15 million visitors during the study period, followed by Emirates Newspaper, al-Ahram, and the Jordanian paper al-Rai. The ceremony was attended by Dr. Naser al-Tayar, chief of the Arab publishing house, editor Kholud Al-Emyan, and the chief administrators of other Arab newspapers. Tayar said that there is a huge challenge of credibility, professionalism, and continuous progress for newspapers today, and that working on the Internet is not easy. Therefore, he commended them for working hard and exerting effort. Tayar added that they are advancing Arab journalism. He said that their message is closing the gap between Arab and western media. Forbes' list highlighted the importance of the media's role in spreading awareness and cultivating societies, especially during the waves of change that the Arab world is going through and the role of online journalism. Dr. Fahd Al Garbooaa, the chief executive of al-Tayar company, said that they were pleased to support Forbes' ceremony as they believe in the importance of the role that media plays in spreading awareness. He praised the efforts of the Forbes team to get accurate information and putting the spotlight on inspiring success stories especially with young businessmen.
