WASHINGTON D.C: U.S. FM spokesman Victoria Nolan praised the speech of Egypt's ruling military council Hussein Tantawi. In his speech, Tantawi said the presidential elections will be held in 2012 and authority will be transferred to an elected civil authority. Nolan expressed her concerns about using violence against protestors, who are requesting the end of military rule in Egypt. “We condemned using extreme violence against peaceful protestors,” Nolan said. “The Egyptian government must have self control and achieve discipline forces because all Egyptians have the international right to express opinions peacefully.” Noland also claimed Egyptian authorities must control the security forces and permit peaceful protesting.
