CAIRO: Demonstrators in Tahrir Square today performed the Victory Prayer after wresting the Square from Egyptian Central Security Forces during a daylong battle. The demonstrators prayed to achieve the objectives of the revolution, including the transfer of power to a civilian authority. Hundreds of protestors arriving from the Qasr al-Nil Bridge joined the other demonstrators in the Sqaure. The iconic chant “The People Want to Overthrow The Regime,” which was popularized during the January 25 Revolution, echoed through the Square.
