CAIRO: Five presidential candidates participated in today's Friday of One Demand demonstration in Tahrir Square: Hazem Salah Abu Ismail, Mohamed Selim al-Awa, Ayman Nour, Bothaina Kamel and Abdel Moneim Aboul Fotouh. The protestors demanded that Egypt's ruling military council hand power to a civilian authority. They also opposed constitutional principals document proposed by Deputy Prime Minister Ali al-Selmy. Meanwhile Egyptian presidential candidates Mohamed el-Baradei, Hamdeen Sabbahi and Amr Moussa were absent today. Sabbahi's campaign supporters excused their absence because the protesters changed their main goal of the protest from demanding to hand the authority to civilians to rejecting al-Selmy's document. Regarding the constitutional principals document, the campaign announced their opposition to articles 9 and 10. However, it does not oppose the document but just disagrees on some articles.
