CAIRO: At least 5,200 Egyptian expatriates worldwide registered on the website of Supreme Electoral Committee (SEC) to cast their votes in upcoming parliamentary elections, to begin November 28. Expatriates will vote using their national identification numbers. The SEC facilitated all measures for expatriates' registration in an online database. The online registration process will last nine days, beginning Nov. 10. The Legislative Committee of the Egyptian Cabinet will hold a meeting to discuss all required proposals to enable Egyptian expatriates to cast their votes in the elections. The committee is waiting for the ruling military council's response to constitutional amendments concerning judicial supervision of expatriate voting. Elections for the People's Assembly, the lower house of Egypt's bicameral parliament, will begin November 28. Elections for the Shura Council will begin next spring.
