CAIRO: Egyptian Presidential Candidate and former director of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Mohamed el-Baradei denounced Israeli accusations that he was an Iranian agent, describing them as baseless and too substandard for comment. Israeli newspaper Yediot Ahranot quoted top Israeli officials accusing Baradei of being an Iranian agent during his term at the IAEA. A report leaked Tuesday said that Iran seeks nuclear weapons and aims to allocate a large quantity of uranium for enrichment, the paper added. The report said Iran seeks nuclear weapons for military purposes, and is close to obtaining a nuclear bomb. This report would have utilized Baradei's notes, as he was previously the head of the IAEA. Israel called for tough sanctions against Iran immediately following the report, the paper added. According to the paper, Israel secretly provided the International Atomic Energy Agency information about the Iranian nuclear program. It reported that the United States is considering the report cautiously.
