CAIRO: An Israeli official slammed Egyptian presidential candidate and former Secretary-General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Mohamed el-Baradei, describing him as Iranian agent during his time at the agency, the Israeli daily Yediot Ahranot reported Wednesday. The newspaper said a source high in the Israeli government accused Baradei of never issuing a report condemning Iran. A report leaked Tuesday said that Iran seeks nuclear weapons and aims to allocate a large quantity of uranium for enrichment, the paper added. The report said Iran seeks nuclear weapons for military purposes, and is close to obtaining a nuclear bomb. This matter would have incorporated Baradei's notes, as he was previously IAEA board governor. The paper alleged Iran was sold illegal nuclear material, there are secret activities in secret underground facilities, and a nuclear test inside Iranian nuclear reactors is close to completed. Israel called for tough sanctions against Iran immediately following the report, Yediot Aharnot added. According to the paper, Israel secretly provided the International Atomic Energy Agency information about the Iranian nuclear program. It reported that the United States is considering the report cautiously.
