CAIRO: The Egyptian Bloc announced on today November 9 threatened to boycott the upcoming parliamentary elections as a response to the Supreme Electoral Committee's (SEC) decision of refusing to unify the Bloc's electoral code. In a statement, the Bloc's representatives called on Egypt's ruling military council and Egyptian Prime Minister Essam Sharaf to intervene and settle down this difference, especially after the representatives failed to meet the SEC members. The Egyptian Bloc includes al-Tagammu, Free Egyptians and Social Democratic political parties. The representatives expressed their shock about the decision of the refusal and they said the decision violates the equity principle. They also said not unifying the electoral code could disperse the voters and negatively affect voting sorting. The representatives called on SEC members to listen to the complaints amid the preparations of the elections. The representatives also expressed their appreciation to the SEC members who have good intention to run the electoral voting impartially.
