Presidential candidate Mohamed Selim al-Awa strongly criticized the recent constitutional document issued by Deputy Prime Minister Ali al-Selmy, describing it as an attempt to dominate political will and to undermine the next parliament elections in Egypt. He called for strictly confronting such a document during a public conference held in Tukh. Al-Awa clarified the document has many legal problems, such as providing judicial authorities with legislative competences. He added the document ignored how to improve means of production, which reflects the intention to adopt the same policies during the upcoming phase. He said to protect the poor in Egypt, the government should control these means. He also criticized the article forcing the president to take approval of Egypt's ruling military council and members of parliament before declaring war. About the Emergency Law, al-Awa supported implementing such a law against thugs, while the former and current regimes work to implement the law against politicians. Thus he called for ending the Emergency Law immediately. He also viewed the recent crisis between judges and lawyers an attempt to impede the next elections in Egypt by raising tensions among the wings of justice. Al-Awa added the next parliamentary elections in Egypt are considered the first step to restore Egypt's position and prepare a new constitution. He said Egypt will not witness the same events that happened in Algeria.
