SUEZ, Egypt; Fishermen Sheikh Bakry Aboul Hassan assured the Egyptian fishing boat, Nasser al-Islam, is detained on a Yemeni coast since Friday November 28. Aboul Hassan also said there is negotiation with Yemeni authorities to release the boat. Yemeni authorities are issuing a fine of U.S. $150,000 for the release of the boat. They reduced it to U.S. $50,000 after negotiations. Aboul Hassan said the fishing boat left the Suez gulf 15 days ago. The crew includes 20 to 24 fishermen. “Arresting the fishermen and detaining the boat is illegal because it was 19 miles away from Yemeni borders. When the boat was arrested, it did not have any fish or cross any obvious violations,” Aboul Hassan said.
