ALEXANDRIA, Egypt: An employee in the accounting department at an American school in Alexandria embezzled $356,000 after she withdrew financial expenses greater than the value required from parents. Alezandria Security Director Maj. Gen. Khaled Ghoraba received a report yesterday from lawyer Ihab Mekky, the deputy chairman of the Board of Trustees of Schutz American School, about the incident. The report indicated that the defendant embezzled U.S. $356,000 from the school's treasury. Investigations by the department of combating crimes of public funds said the report was right. Investigations revealed amounts of money recorded were less than what she received from parents. The employee was arrested yesterday and was transferred to the prosecution. The prosecution decided to release her on 3,000 EGP bail (U.S. $508) until the completion of investigations.
