Major General Marwan Mustafa, Director-General for Information and Relations at the Ministry of the Interior, announced the issuance a code of rules and ethical conduct of policing at a press conference Saturday. Gen. Hani Abdel-Latif, Deputy Director General for Media and Relations said that such a code was issued for the first time in the history of the Ministry of Interior. “The Egyptian police are part of the Egyptian people, working to protect life, and property, prevent crime, disseminate safety and security in the homeland, and provide security for all citizens in the framework of the Constitution, law, and human rights standards,” he said. He said the police force also seeks to permanently satisfy the aspirations of the citizens and community participation in solving the problems that may affect the security and public peace.
