President of the National Council for Human Rights Dr. Boutros-Ghali on Sunday will open the International Congress of Legislation for Democratization. This conference will be attended by Deputy Egyptian Prime Minister Ali el-Selmi, Mohammed Fayek and former Egyptian Prime Minister Kamal al-Ganzoury as well as a number of other countries – most notably Syria, which is currently engaged in a popular uprising designed to oust embattled President Bashar al-Assad. The Development of Legislation at the National Council for Human Rights is organizing the conference. The conference will study a number of pieces of legislation, particularly those related to elections and anti-corruption laws. The conference will also include discussions regarding the experience of Arab and foreign countries with regard to legislation and democratization. The conference will host a variety of participants, including activists, politicians, trade unionists and Egyptian labor leaders, civil society organizations as well as a number of experts and those interested in human rights issues, youth political parties, and representatives from the U.S., Britain, Romania, Italy, Spain, Morocco, Jordan, Yemen, Iraq, Lebanon, Tunisia and Syria
