The main focus of today's newspapers is the acquittal of former minister of mass communication and Minister of finance Yousef Boutros Ghali from charges of wasting public money, the health of former president Mubarak and the rise in prices, especially sugar.
Youm 7
It came as a great surprise to many that the Cairo criminal court acquitted both Anas al-Fiqi and Youssef Boutros Ghali of charges pertaining to financial corruption and misappropriation of public money, as well as Ahmed Maghraby, former minister of housing, in a land settlement case.
Gamal Mubarak, son of former president Hosni Mubarak, apparently refused to be photographed within Torah Prison in the prison uniform to refute claims that he was seen outside the prison.
Al-Ahram
General Sami Anan, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces and Vice President of the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces, stated during his meeting with fifteen representatives of political parties yesterday that the army is working on the side of the citizens to achieve freedom and prosperity.
Field Marshal Mohamed Hussein Tantawi, head of the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces, issued a decree that provides for the amendment of the law of social allowance for workers in the state, so that the social allowance to pensioners has increased by 30 percent and no maximum wage has been imposed.
Al-Akhbar
Medical sources at Sharm el-Sheikh International Hospital said the former president has been on a respirator since yesterday. The source emphasized that Mubarak was in bad health and was given medication for high blood pressure.
The armed forces succeeded in cooperation with the police force in arresting 84 major drug traffickers.
Al-Wafd
A report by forensic consultants in last year's murder of young Alexandrian Khaled Said said the forensic reports of the case are contradictory and devoid of credibility. Dr. Ayman Fouda, Director of Forensic Medicine and former Chief Medical Examiner, in his report prepared for the court said that Khalid Said was murdered and did not die because of swallowing hash.
Dr. Essam al-Erian, a leader of the Muslim Brotherhood and the Vice-President of the Freedom and Justice Party, said Israel will disappear during the next few years thanks to the revolutions of the Arab peoples against the dictatorships under which they have lived for so long.
Al-Masry Al-Youm
Families of the martyrs of the January 25 Revolution and revolutionaries in Suez Governorate decided to stage a sit in at Arbaeen Square, which has seen the fiercest battles of the revolution with the former regime, following the release on bail of police officers involved in the killing of demonstrators.
National Council for Human Rights said it is necessary to expedite the trials of those accused in the killing of peaceful demonstrators during the revolution.
Al-Dostor
Ambassador Mohammed Fayek, Secretary-General of the National Council for Human Rights, said that the fact-finding mission for the events of 28 and 29 June in Tahrir Square discovered that there were outside elements responsible for inciting the incidents and that the police had reacted with excessive force.
In the first reaction of the Muslim Brotherhood following a judicial acquittal of a number of ministers of the previous regime, Dr. Mahmoud Ghazlan, the group's spokesman, said it was being discussed whether the brotherhood would participate in Friday's protest.
Al-Shorouq
Cairo Criminal Court acquitted three former ministers yesterday: Anas al-Fiqi, Youssef Boutros-Ghali and Ahmed el-Maghraby of charges of wasting public money.
Yehia al-Gamal, Deputy Prime Minister, said in a special statement to Al-Shorouq that the Law of the People's Assembly and Shura Council of the study was completed and presented to all parties and the national reconciliation conference ended all discussions related to it.
Al-Gomhorreya
King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain received a message from Field Marshal Mohamed Hussein Tantawi, head of the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces, on bilateral relations and Egypt's appreciation to the people of Bahrain. It also invited the King of Bahrain to visit Egypt at the earliest opportunity. The message was conveyed via Prime Minister Essam Sharaf during a meeting with King of Bahrain
