CAIRO: Egyptian Embassy in Jordan settled the living conditions of 50,000 Egyptians in Jordan in coordination with Jordanian authorities, said Egyptian ambassador to Jordan Amr Aboul Atta. The Egyptian Embassy asked the Jordanian authority to provide Egyptians time to finish the required documents for continuing their work in Jordan, the ambassador added. The currently improving living conditions is the second of its kind, conducted by the Egyptian embassy as the first process fulfilled in 2009 for 75,000 Egyptians. The Embassy learned the volume of Egyptian workers in Jordan rose from 250,000 people in 2008 to 417,000 on September 30, 2011 and thus the Egyptian remittances from Jordan increased. The Egyptian embassy signed life insurance contracts for Egyptian workers with a Jordanian Insurance Company. Since the beginning of 2011, 172 dead bodies of Egyptians transported to Egypt with a cost of around U.S. $ 110, 000. In addition, the embassy collected U.S. $622,000 as compensation during this period, with over 55 death cases. Moreover, the Egyptian embassy coordinated with Jordanian embassy in providing human and medical aid valued at thousands of Jordanian Dinars. The Egyptian consulate secured the release and deport of more than 250 citizens who tried to infiltrate from Jordan into Lebanon, by crossing Syrian territories. It also expands the validity of 10,000 passports to facilitate process of getting work permits. The Embassy is making periodic visits three times per month to inspect the prisoners' conditions. Thus, Aboul Atta said Egyptian Embassies aren't ignoring their citizens' rights.
