Link: CAIRO: Egypt's liberal New Wafd Party will not allow members of Egypt's formerly ruling regime to enter parliamentary elections on the party's electoral list, the party said today. General Secretary Foad Badrawy said, “The party will not elect any remnants of the former National Democratic Party on its electoral lists in the next parliamentary elections.” Badrawy denied in press statements today what was said about problems in the executive bureau concerning the candidates' names for the elections. The Assistant General Secretary of al-Wafd, Margret Azir, said, “The party doesn't seek to elect remnants and the names mentioned in newspapers as candidates on al-Wafd's lists are not right.”
