CAIRO: Prominent opposition figure George Ishak called members of Egypt's formerly ruling National Democratic Party (NDP) a “gang.” Ishak, a member of Egypt's National Council for Human Rights and former leader of the Kefaya Movement, demanded the government implement political isolation against the remnants of the NDP. Ishak's statements came during today's demonstrations in Tahrir Square. In front of 3,000 demonstrators, Ishak said he does not refuse organizing a strike in Tahrir Square so long as it does not contradict with the interests of the people. In related news, former parliamentarian Gamal Zahran refuted the recent statement issued by Egypt's ruling military council and the extension of the transitional stage, saying, "If the military council will adopt [former President] Mubarak's policies, it should leave the authority." Ashraf Balba, member of the National Association of Change, greeted the martyrs of the January 25 Revolution that overthrew Hosni Mubarak and his regime, demanding the military rulers hand power over to a civil authority.
