The Egyptian Catholic Church rejected the claims of demands to boycott the upcoming parliamentary elections because if they did, the Islamic movements and organizations are going to take over, due to the unfair partition of the electoral districts. The deputy Catholic patriarch Bishop Boutrous Faheem said Egyptian Coptic Christians should participate in politics in a way that suits their political beliefs and concepts. He also said Christian concerns are not justified; if they decide to participate, their voices will be influential in Egypt's political arena. It should be noted a seminar was held in the Catholic Sect building entitled the “Catholic position towards the upcoming Egyptian parliamentary elections."
