CAIRO: Qasr el-Eini Street, which leads to Tahrir Sqaure, reopened today after the demonstrating teachers suspended their sit-in outside the Egyptian Cabinet. Teachers from governorates all across Egypt were staging a sit-in calling for Egyptian Prime Minister Essam Sharaf to meet their demands. The demonstrators held signs reading, “Strike Until Our Demands Are Met” and “From Now On No Corruption in Education.” The military forces earlier attempted to end their sit-in and open the road, but the effort failed. Bothaina Kamel, an Egyptian presidential candidate, visited the demonstrators to express her support. She claimed that there will not be an Egyptian renaissance until there is a good education system.
