CAIRO: The Lord Mayor of London will accompany a group of businessmen to Cairo in October, British Ambassador to Egypt James Watt told Youm7. The delegation of 20 businessmen will travel to Cairo October 3-5. The delegation will include “investors who want to look closely at the Egyptian market,” Ambassador Watt told Youm7 in an exclusive statement. Ambassador Watt said the visit will include many events with Egyptian businessmen to encourage partnerships and pairings and generally present opportunities to businessmen from both countries. “Our companies… have long relations with Egypt and have no intention of pulling back or pulling out,” Ambassador Watt said. “They have lots more to do here.” The UK ambassador said “Egypt should be a major industrial powerhouse,” adding that Egyptian workers are good and have a good reputation. He said Britain has been the largest investor in Egypt for the last three years. “We're extremely proud of that record,” he said. “It's an excellent record of cooperation.” The Lord Mayor of London is the mayor of historic London, which is essentially the British capital's financial district. A new mayor is chosen annually and comes from a business background.
