CAIRO: A delegation of businessmen, headed by Ali Moussa, head of the Cairo Chamber of Commerce, will soon head to Serbia, said Serbian Ambassador in Cairo Dejan Vasiljevic. "Mr Moussa is preparing to take a business community delegation from here to Serbia, Vasiljevic said. Egyptian businessmen are interested in exporting biodiesel fuel and rubber belts used in factories and mines from Serbia. An Egyptian company also showed interest last month in buying some land in Vojvodina, north Serbia, to cultivate crops for producing biodiesel fuel, the ambassador added. Contacts are underway by Serbian firms to set up a poultry slaughter house in Egypt. Egyptians, on their part, showed interest in importing about 200,000 frozen chickens per week, said the ambassador. Amongst other cooperation vistas in the pipeline is exporting Egyptian dried onion to Serbia, the ambassador noted. The big private Serbian companies working in telecommunications want to contact their Egyptian counterparts, he added. Serbia, a producer of luxurious tourist busses, is also interested in entering the Egyptian market, the ambassador said. Trade exchange between the two countries amounted to about $35 million last year and less than $8 million in the first quarter of 2007, Vasiljevic said. The businessmen delegation comes ahead of holding an Egypt-Serbia joint committee in Belgrade . Fayza Aboul Naga, minister of international cooperation, is to head the Egyptian delegation to the meetings by September or October.
