CAIRO: Egyptian Army Chief of Staff Sami Anan announced the Peoples' Assembly elections will not be postponed since this could endanger Egypt economically, said the chairman of the Egyptian Social Democratic Party, Mohamed Abul Ghar. The party attended the meeting with Egypt's ruling military council and the representatives of Egyptian political parties. They insisted on holding the parliamentary elections by a party-list proportional representation system and not by an individual system. The parties proposed to cancel the individual system, saying the independent candidate can run themselves in one list. Anan added the council will concern with meeting all political powers' demands and negotiations are still being conducted. The meeting tackled the determination of electoral constituencies but the political powers, not including former members of dissolved National Democratic Party, refused.
