Egyptian reported Egypt's ruling military council met the demands of political parties and forces and cancelled the Emergency Law during the upcoming elections. The military council also cancelled article no. 5 of the election law.
Youm7:
The U.S. Consul in Cairo, Roberto Powers, met the U.S. citizen Ilan Gerabil accused of spying for Israel. Gerabil's parents also visited him. Gerabils's mother announced her son suffers form a chronic disease. She asked the Egyptian and U.S. authorities to release him because of his poor health.
Egyptian presidential candidate, Ayman Nour, said the military council renewed contracts of The Living Stone Group, Movie Group and Rodsita Group in order to hold campaigns for political promotion. These campaigns aim to improve the image of the parliamentary candidates. Gamal Mubarak and Ahmed Ezz had peviously signed the contract but it is in the process of changing to be signed by the military council.
Al-Ahram:
Al Ahram reported Egypt's ruling military council met the demands of political forces during the meeting between Egyptian Army Chief of Staff Sami Anan with the political forces and party leaders.
Anan announced the military council will cancel the Emergency Law during the upcoming parliamentary elections. They also allowed party members to run for elections as individuals. The meeting did not determine the specific time for presidential elections.
Political party leaders insist on apply Law of Perfidy and political isolation against members of the dissolved National Democratic Party (NDP). However, the military council considered it might cause injustice to many honest people.
The military council agreed to put an end to military trail for civilians except for cases breaking military rules.
Al-Ahram also reported the Egyptian cabinet information center issued a report revealing establishing investment companies fell by 19.5 percent for 4,012 companies during 2011. Meanwhile they were 4,982 in 2010. Final bankruptcy rules increased by 235 percent at a record of 57 rules during 2011 when it was only 17 last year.
The report also revealed Egyptian gas export declined by 10.3 percent, during the first half of 2011 at a record of U.S. $1.22 billion.
Al-Akhbar:
Egyptian lawyer for the January 25 Revolution martyrs Yaser Said Ahmed prepared a memo to present it to counselor Egypt's trial judge, Ahmed Refaat.
Ahmed said the chairman of Egypt's ruling military council, Hussein Tantawi's, answers during his testimony were short and very military. Tantawi's testimony could be in the favor of the victims and their families.
Al-Masry Al-Youm:
The military council intends to start the presidential election on March 2012 because political party leaders demanded to deliver the rule for civil authority before June 2012, according to sources.
Military sources also said Tantawi will hold a tour in the governorate of Fayoum as a part of October's victory celebration. Tantawi aims to reassure workers and attend the opening of three factories there.
Al-Shorouq:
The head of Justice and Democracy Party, Mohamed Morsi, asked the military council to issue a statement of Law of Treasury as the only way to stop destroying political life in the future. "The Law of Treasury must include a list of all those excluded from political life in Egypt," Morsi said.
He suggested renaming Law of Treasury to the Law of Justice. Morsi wishes the Democratic Alliance continues, including the 46 political parties.
Security systems held big campaigns throughout Egypt resulting in finding 17,200 firearms, including rifles, machine guns and shotguns with 8 shots and manufacturing tools. They also arrested 147 escaped prisoners, 2,500 drug dealers and 344 accused of robbery.
Al-Gomhorreya:
Presidential candidate Amr Moussa met with the Democratic Front of April 6 Movement, a breakaway group of the April 6 Youth Movement, at his office in Dokki on Saturday to discuss the upcoming elections.
They discussed the Laws of Treasury, the upcoming elections, rates of unemployment and the deficit of general budget.
The Democratic Front of April 6 demanded to have a seat to monitor the presidential candidates' meetings and Moussa approved of the idea.
