CAIRO: Prominent Egyptian politician Ayman Nour participated in today's demonstrations, called the ‘Friday of Rectification. Nour, leader of the liberal al-Ghad Party and expected presidential candidate, said the objectives of Egypt's January 25 Revolution have not been achieved yet. Nour told Youm7 that the revolution has not ended, particularly because the demands of those injured in the revolution and the families of the martyrs have not been met. Commenting on the celebrations of Farmers' Day in Cairo Stadium, Nour said he does not oppose Egypt's ruling military council, but opposes the laws and decision drafted unilaterally. Nour also expressed his refusal of prosecuting Egyptian citizens before military courts. Nour demanded that Egypt's ruling military council draft a timetable outlining when it will hand over power to a civilian authority. He also asked that the council draft specific mechanisms for Egypt's upcoming parliamentary elections. The next parliamentary elections, slated for November, will be Egypt's first vote since a popular uprising toppled the country's 30-year ruler and his regime earlier this year.
