Experts from the Argentine Omfab Company will arrive in Cairo on Sunday September 18 to begin the official operation process on the Inshas nuclear reactor, reported Head of the Atomic Energy Commission Mohamed Ezat Abdel Azem. Three of the Argentine experts were on hand to attend the experimental operation, said Azem. “The Inshas reactor has been operational for four days using what is called the Hot Operation,” said Azem. The reactor did not have any technical problems, he added. The Commission will continue to irradiate chromium, iridium and iodine, all of which need 21 days to complete experiments, Azem said. “The radioactive isotopes will produce Molybdenum 99,” he added. The Egyptian Energy Commission established the Inshas reactor to produce and export radioactive isotopes.
