CAIRO: A majority of Israelis reject the deployment of additional Egyptian troops in the Sinai Peninsula, Israeli newspapers reported today. Maariv and the Jerusalem Post published messages from Israelis calling on the Knesset to wait before agreeing to an Egyptian troop surge in the Sinai Peninsula. According to Maariv, Israelis consider troop additions a violation of the Camp DavidAccords, and are especially wary of an Egypt that could resurface as a major strategic threat as it undergoes radical changes. Israelis also reject the presence of foreign troops along the Egyptian-Israeli border, saying Israelis should secure Israel, according to the paper.
