The Administrative Judiciary Court, headed by Judge Hamdi Yasin Okasha, supported the resolution by the Agriculture Research Center at the Regional Center for Food and Feed at the Ministry of Agriculture, to prevent the entry of expired yellow corn shipment from the U.S. to Egypt. One of the U.S. companies made a lawsuit against the Agriculture Research Center, the Minister of Agriculture, the chairman of Alexandria Port Authority and the director of customs office of El-Dekhala port to cancel the resolution of U.S. corn import to Egypt. This lawsuit included a claim that the shipment should be the same as the standard specifications. The court said, according to the resolution no. 1498 of the year 1996, which stated, as a result of the changes happened during shipping, transporting and discharging, there was a limited percentage to the broken corn grains. Level 1 with a maximum 5 percent, level 2 with a maximum 8 percent and level 3 with a maximum 12 percent. The claiming company imported yellow corn from the U.S. to use it as animal feed, but the Agriculture Research Center rejected the shipment from entering Egypt for non-compliance to standard specifications.
