CAIRO: Ousted Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak arrived on a stretcher for the second day of his murder trial today. During his first trial hearing on August 3, Mubarak pleaded not guilty to charges of murdering demonstrators during the January uprising that toppled Egypt's three-decade ruler and his regime from power. Mubarak is also charged with financial corruption. His sons Alaa and Gamal, former Minister of Interior Habib al-Adly, six of al-Adly's assistants, and fugitive businessman Hussein Salem (who is tried in absentia) stand trial alongside Egypt's former ruler. Mubarak arrived in Cairo by helicopter and was then taken to the courthouse by ambulance. The ousted president has been held at the International Medical Center on the Cairo-Ismalia desert road since August 3, by order of the presiding judge. The other defendants, with the exception of Salem, have been held in Torah Prison since their arrest dates. Salem is currently in a Spanish prison.
