CAIRO: As Egypt's Ministry of Interior begins reshuffling the country's prison departments, the most significant transfer is the removal of Torah Prison's warden from his post. Mohamed Naguib, deputy minister of interior for prisons, has begun the transfer of 300 officers in prisons across the country. Most of those being transferred are wardens of various prisons. The most significant transfer is that of Brig. Gen. Ahmed Abdelrazak, warden of Torah Prison, and his deputy. Abdelrazak was transferred over allegations that he gave special treatment to members of Egypt's ousted former regime being held in Torah Prison, including the former president's sons, Alaa and Gamal. Abdelrazak let them have a group iftar in Torah Prison's yard and even joined them at the meal and stayed with them until late at night. His was summoned to the president of the prisons department and reprimanded for his actions. Before Egypt's January uprising that toppled Hosni Mubarak and his regime from power, Torah Prison often housed political prisoners and prisoners of conscious.
