The Egypt Democratic Party, the Free Egyptians Party, The Justice Party, the Democratic Front Party and the Egypt Freedom Party held a meeting yesterday in the office of Mohamed Abu Gar to form a new electoral alliance. One of the goals of the participants was to recruit more political parties to oppose the growing strength of the Islamic movement. “The meeting formed a neutral committee which will bind the participating parties in the alliance,” said Said Kamel, secretary-general of Democratic Front Party. The formation of the alliance will be formally announced on Monday at the headquarters of the Journalist's Syndicate. The National Council, the National Association for Change, Al-Tagammu Party and the National Coalition Party welcomed the alliance. The parties considered different visions of Egypt's future and set specific mechanisms for the alliance. These mechanisms include the formation of a unified administration that will determine the spokesperson and set the policies and agenda for the alliance. Kamel said suggested names for the new alliance are “Egyptian Union” and “The Justice, Equality, Entity and Revolution Forces Alliance.” Democratic Front Party Chief Osama Gazaly, General Coordinator of the National Association for Change Abdel Aziz Mostafa and Dr. Amr Hamzawy, the representative of the Egypt Freedom Party, all attended the meeting.
