The Council of Ministries call for the dissolution of the Egyptian Trade Union Federation (ETUF) is a “violation of international law” and will be appealed in the Administrative Court, said acting ETUF President Ismail Fahmy. “The State's call to dissolve the ETUF is against international agreements preventing the dissolution of national syndicates,” Fahmy added. The call for the dissolution reveals that new Minister of Manpower Ahmed al-Boraei is behind the plan to dissolve the ETUF, Fahmy said. “The union administration is not aware of the court's verdict declaring ETUF elections from 2006 to 2011 null and void,” he said, adding that this verdict was issued against the supervision of the Manpower Ministry on union elections. Fahmy warned of possible protests against the Council of Ministries in different union committees.
