CAIRO: Youm7 received the full text of the investigation about the ‘Battle of the Camels' incident, in which armed men riding horses and camels attacked peaceful demonstrators in Tahrir Square on February 2. The case file contains a number of surprises, including the calling forward of several Coptic Church officials as witnesses to the case, such as the head of Abu Takia Church of Mar Girgis, Father Armiah Makram. Official reports submitted to Attorny General Abdel Magid Mahmoud indicate there are new defendants in the case, including the son of the former Egyptian president, Gamal Mubarak, the former Minister of Communication, Anas al-Fiqi, and others. There was also report of a meeting held with former head of the People's Assembly, Fathy Sorour, in which the January 25 Revolution was discussed. Sorour had announced after a telephone call from the former Minister of Interior, Mahmoud Wagdy, that pro-Mubarak protestors from the Sayeda Zeinab district would march into Tahrir to confront the anti-Mubarak protesters. There was also a statement from a witness Mohamed Mohie el-Din, who saw an ambulance on Kasr el-Ainy Street full of thugs carrying knives and posters of the former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak. When Mohie el-Din told the dean and other professors of Kasr el-Ainy Hospital, he was dismissed and was told the head of the French Kasr el-Ainy Hospital said the ambulance went out according to an official dispensation from the university. An anonymous witness from the district of Nazlet el-Seman said both the Members of Parliament, Abdel Nasser al-Jabri, and member of the Shura Council, Sayed Hindawi, roused the fear in residents of the area. The residents were told the area would be devastated after the January 25 Revolution, which lead the residents to protest peacefully. However, matters escalated on February 1 when both al-Jabri and Hindawi lead the residents to Tahrir Square to protest against the protestors there for pro-Mubarak protests in Mustafa Mahmoud Street. The witness said he knew a call was made between al-Jabri and the former Director of Cairo security, General Ismail al-Shaer, who warned him against pending attack on the anti-Mubarak protestors in Tahrir. Another witness said he saw the Head of Security and Minister of War Industries, General Sayed Meshaal, leading ministerial buses full of armed individuals to Tahrir Square. When they were questioned, they said they were going to go disperse the violent protestors in Tahrir Square.
