The Egyptian Daar ALIFTAA announced Monday will be the first day of the holy month of Ramadan. ALIFTAA made the announcement in a statement after checking through with different scientific and legitimate committees throughout Egypt. The announcement was declared during a ceremony attended by the Grand Imam, Ahmed al-Tayeb, the republic mufti, Ali Gomaa, and a representative of the military council and among other figures. Ramadan is the holy Islamic month when all Muslims fast from dawn until dusk.
