LUXOR, Egypt: The vice president of the Freedom and Justice Party, Dr. Essam al-Erian, said Egypt should suspend the wine industry since it is an Islamic country. He said Egypt should prevent Muslims from drinking wine and tourists should respect Egyptian traditions. He said restoring the tourism movement is a priority for Luxor especially since it attracts a large number of Luxor's youth. Al-Arian made this statement during a public conference in Luxor on Monday. About the expected governors' change, he assured the Egyptians' demands should be respected and he praised the residents of Qena, who forced the government to respond to their desire when they refused their governor. Al-Erian demanded Egyptian Prime Minister Essam Sharaf to not pursue the former regime's poling in choosing new governors. He said the former regime used to position generals to honor them. Al-Erian added the objectives of the revolution extended to establish a democratic regime, stressing such objectives can't be achieved immediately. He warned of any foreign attempt aiming to drive a wedge between the citizens and the army. He pointed out the U.S. and Israel will not abandon their strategic treasure easily. Al-Arian stressed the main objective of the next parliament should serving Egypt, stressing the immunity of the parliamentary members shouldn't extend to out of the parliament and they should avoid exploiting their position to achieve personal gains. A leader in the Freedom and Justice Party, Ahmed Abu Baraka, said the revolution wasn't lead by the youth only but also by citizens of all ages. He added Islamic principles can be implemented for all ages so the party insists on Islamic reference for Egypt.
