CAIRO: Egyptian Prime Minister Essam Sharaf has accepted the resignation of Deputy PM Yehia al-Gamal. A coalition of youth representatives has consequently called for George Ishak to be appointed his replacement. Ishak is a member of the National Council for Human Rights and was one of the founders of the Kefaya movement, which spearheaded some of the first street protests under the regime of Hosni Mubarak. A source who asked not to be named said Sharaf told the representatives that the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces, currently charged with Egypt's administration, granted him all duties as the council's spokesman, Mohsen al-Fangary, said. The source said Sharaf added that he has the right to make a ministerial reshuffle and to make comprehensive change among the governors on July 25. A full change is also expected in the police sector.
