MONOFIYA: A family court in Monofiya governorate has decided that the divorce of Abeer Talat Fakhry and her Christian husband Ayman Gamal Fathy was due to their different religions. Abeer's case is believed to be the main trigger of the deadly sectarian clashes in Cairo's poverty-stricken Imbaba neighborhood. She claims she was held against her will by the church once her family discovered she had converted from Christianity to Islam. Neither Abeer nor her husband attended the court's ruling; their layers attend as their representatives. Abeer asked to get a divorce because she converted from Christianity to Islam.
