CAIRO: A criminal court sentenced the fugitive officer Mohamed Ibrahim Abdel Moneim from the al-Zawyah al-Hamraa police station to death in absentia for killing 19 protestors and injuring another 15 during the January 25 revolution. The session started at 2:30 pm with the presence of the victims' families and the accused was proven absent. The prosecutor then presented a report to the court president explaining that the accused escaped after he committed his crimes. He hasn't attended work, and didn't attend his trial even though he was aware of its date. The prosecution referred the accused for an urgent trial for using a machine gun to shoot citizens at random outside al- Zawyah al-Hamraa police station, killing many citizens.
