Egypt's Public Prosecutor's office received today the first complaint against Egypt's current Prime Minister, Essam Sharaf, and Deputy Prime Minister, Yehia al-Gamal, accusing them of ignoring the people's will along with the constitutional announcement. Complaint No 8558 by lawyer Hisham Ragab mentioned that Sharaf's recent declarations reflect his government's intention of drafting a constitution before holding parliamentary elections. Ragab also accused al-Gamal of acting against the people's demands and affecting public security. Sharaf said many times before that he supports the idea of establishing the constitution and delaying instead the parliamentary elections in order to pave the way that will develop Egypt's political life. Al-Gamal even said that the majority of Egyptians want to the draft of a constitution before holding elections, confirming that the military council has the right to amend the constitutional announcement. This, however, contradicts the referendum which expressed what Egyptians wanted. The complaint demanded investigating al-Gamal given that his declarations are pressuring the government to establish the constitution before holding elections. It said the governmental official represents an executive authority and not a legislative one, indicating that al-Gamal does not have the right to express his personal opinions. The complaint said that such declarations may lead to an increase agitation amongst Egyptian. The complaint said there are a few Egyptians who have foreign agendas, and so exert their efforts to cancel the results of the referendum despite the will of the people.
