CAIRO: Egypt's military judicature and its specializations are organized by law according to constitutional principles, said Morsi Adel, chairman of the Military Judicature Authority. He said the military judicature is an independent entity consisting of courts, prosecutors and judgment branches. Adel said the military judicature is keen to apply all rights, freedoms and guarantees of the accused according to Egyptian law and international charters. He added in press release that the military judicature has no hostility to any judgment front. He said all military court verdicts are taken from Court of Cassation verdicts. As for appointing military judges in military courts and prosecutions, he said the military judicature law provides that military judges are independent and there is no authority upon them except the authority itself. Regarding the ratification of military court verdicts, Adel said that the criminal judicature system dose not allow appeal in felonies, but the military courts give the defendant the right of verdict reference before ratifying the verdict. The Supreme Court of Military Appeals is concerned with appeals submitted by the military prosecution or by defendants who are sentenced for military crimes.
