Britain's minister for the Middle East and North Africa said the British government supports the Egyptian revolution and that ties between Britain and Egypt remain strong. The minister, Alistair Burt, said there are many common concerns and shared interests between the two countries. In a televised interview with ‘Al-Hayat al-Youm,' Burt added that Britatin is working hard to support Egypt financially in the coming period through the creation of a partnership fund, which would provide material support, and by encouraging the EU to invest financially in Egypt. Burt relayed the British government's concerns regarding sectarian strife in Egypt. He urged all parties to remain calm until Egypt passes this transitional phase and said the achievement of democracy is the surest way for all parties to obtain their rights. Regarding the assets of former Egyptian officials frozen in Britain, Burt said the Egyptian authorities must take quick action in order to return these stolen assets to Egypt. He said the British government is willing to cooperate in any way possible to restore the assets to the Egyptian government.
