MiNYA, Egypt: Menya governorate has started an awareness campaign in an effort to enhance wheat planting and ability to meet the needs of the Bank for Development and Agricultural Credit. Because of this, Menya governor, Samir Salam, has announced that wheat transfer outside of the governorate will be halted for a year. During this period, the governorate and the Bank for Development and Agricultural Credit will chose allocated places for a percentage of the wheat to be received. Salam has encouraged farmers to consider their quality standards in order to reach a higher price for wheat and reduce the amount lost during the harvesting period. The deputy of the Ministry of Agriculture, Hassan Fouly, has stated that if the purity of the wheat is raised and prices follow, farmer's incomes will naturally increase.
