CAIRO – Egypt's Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Ayman Abul-Hadded asserted on Thursday that the ministry allocated LE five billion to buy four million tonnes of wheat this season, the official Middle East news Agency, reported. Abul-Hdeed said the Principal Bank for Development and Agricultural Credit (PBDAC) and its branches nationwide will receive any quantity from farmers with LE350 per ardebb, a measurement unit for wheat that hits 150kg. He urged farmers to get rid of all corp this year, promising them to get excellent seeds next year with high productivity. "Egypt's production of wheat this season hits eight tonnes, while Egyptian consume nine tones for bread," he has said, adding that the target of wheat self-sufficiency would be achieved by raising the production of feddan from 18 ardebbs to 24. "The Government is keen to support farmers, aiming at raising their income," he said.
