CAIRO - Egypt's Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Ayman Abul Hadeed asserted Friday that the Principal Bank for Development and Agricultural Credit (PBDAC) would receive local wheat this season from farmers on Saturday, the official Middle East News Agency reported. Ardebb, a measurement of wheat that hits 150kg, costs LE350. Abul Hadeed said the PBDAC is ready to receive four tonnes this season nationwide in return for three tones last year. "Egypt's production of wheat this season hits eight tonnes, while Egyptian consume nine tons for bread," he said, adding that the target of wheat self-sufficiency would be achieved by raising the production of feddan from 18 ardebbs to 24. "The Government is keen to support farmers, aiming at raising their income," he said.
