The Egyptian Association of Comparative Literature (EACL) will hold a seminar titled, “comparative literature and dialogue with ‘the other' in the light of the January 25 Revolution.” The seminar will occur on Saturday in cooperation with the Supreme Council for Culture (SCC). DR. Ahmed Etman, the president of EACL, will begin the seminar at 10am in the SCC conference hall by honoring comparative literature pioneers. The first session, headed by Hussein Nasser, will begin at 11:30am. It includes a paper by Shawky Galal titles, ‘Where are we going?' and another by critic Sayyed el-Bahrawy about ‘Mental Dependency.' Essam Hamza will discuss the Japanese experience in building a new country and Hamad Abo Ahmed will speak about Egypt's image in the world after the revolution. The second session, headed by Dr. Abdel Latif Abdel Halem, will begin at 1pm, and the third at 3:30pm, headed by Dr. Abdel Ghafar Mekawy. In the forth session, Dr. Alaa Abdel Hady will honor the Youth of the Revolution. After that, Amena Rashid will head the fifth session at 6:15pm. Many writers will give their testimonies from Tahrir Square, including Ahmed el-Shety, Abeer Abd el-Hafez, Mohamed el-Gebaly, Ahmed Ammar and Ahmed Hadad. Finally, the closing session at 7:15pm will focus on recommendations for the coming period.
